Genre Fiction Writing Sample
This is an excerpt from my novel “Chasing Daisies,” which tells the story of a vagabonding femme fatale type navigating the New York subway system in hopes of rescuing her sister from their estranged home life with the help of a supposed-to-be-dead conman.
Short Story Writing Sample
“A Vivid Memory” explores the intersection of memory and selfhood by following a young girl’s relationship to her grandparents from her childhood to their dying days. Through the memory of their love, she finds hope for a timeless version of herself that she can’t yet find.
Academic Writing Sample
Autofiction is a common genre in feminist literature, perhaps moreso than its proponents care to admit; in this paper, I explore the relationship between self-insertion into text and the feminist concept of ‘writing the body’ through a critical examination of Colette’s novel “The Vagabond.”
