FREED VERSE

White, green, checkered, red:
     a Suessian collection of all that's unsaid.
The signs, the patterns, the writing on the wall,
     all at full mast for those up to the call.

Colorguard, march!
Puts me little at ease.
For though the flag is waving,
it surely can't be at me!
